Pokejem / Guide: is it worth it?

Is card restoration worth it?
An honest guide from a restorer. Sometimes the answer is no, and we would rather tell you that than take on a card that will not benefit.
◆ Quick check
Is it worth it for your card?
| Your situation | Worth it? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Vintage or promo card with lifting edges, dents or haze | Usually yes | Common, fixable damage on cards that are hard to replace |
| A card with sentimental value, such as your first holo | Usually yes | The value is personal; a cleaner, flatter card is what you want to keep |
| A soft crease or bend | Usually yes | Soft creases often flatten very well |
| A hard crease that cracked the surface | Partly | It can be reduced, but a faint line usually remains |
| A modern card you can rebuy cheaply | Usually no | Replacing it costs less than restoring it |
| Torn card, missing pieces, water damage in the cardstock | No | This damage cannot be undone by honest restoration |

Questions to ask any restorer
- Will you tell me what cannot be fixed? A good restorer turns some cards down.
- Do you inspect before quoting? We map every card under a microscope and agree the plan with you first.
- Will I see before and after photos? We photograph every step.
- Are the methods reversible? We do not recolour, trim, coat or add anything to the card.
- How long will it take? Our typical turnaround is about one week.
A note on grading
We restore cards; we do not grade them or submit them for grading. Grading companies judge every card as it is, so no restorer can promise a grade. If you sell a restored card, tell the buyer it has been restored.

◆ FAQ
Common questions
Is it worth restoring a Pokémon card?
It is worth it when the card matters to you, the damage is fixable and the card would be expensive or hard to replace. For cheap modern cards, buying another copy is usually better value.
Does restoration lower a card's value?
Honest, reversible work that makes a card present better does not add anything to it. Always tell a buyer if a card has been restored.
How much does it cost?
Every card gets a free quote from photos. See card restoration prices in Singapore.
